Tico Coffee Roasters Brazil Brasis Natural

Roasted 11/26/22 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 42. Caramelized sugar, spices & cocoa. I tried this at Tico's open house and while it was nice it I strongly preferred the Holiday Blend. This definitely surpasses what I normally think of Brazilian coffees, but I don't find this flavor profile interesting. It could be good as a daily drinker or probably better as an espresso.

Tico Coffee Roasters Holiday Blend

Roasted 11/26/22  A Blend composed of Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Indonesia. Washed & Natural  Cranberry, Carmel, fudge & pecan. Surprisingly delicate. Good for both espresso and filter, I think it shines as an espresso. I wasn't expecting much since I tend to find holiday blends to be dark and heavy on the brown spice notes.

Tico Coffee Roasters Peru The Watertower Decaf

I've had a lot of coffee samples recently since I am setting up a cafe, hopefully as a multi-roaster. The owner of Tico Coffee Roasters brought some preground coffee as for a coffee tasting so these are a little different than how I normally write these.  Her recipe was 24g coffee with a 75g bloom at 205°F water for thirty seconds with an additional 300g pour in the clever and then start the pour down at 2:30 finishing roughly at three and a half minutes.  Last, but not least is the decaf. I liked it, I don't know why I never really served it before a bit orthodox, but better than many decafs I've tried. Chocolate throughout, orange syrup and roasted peanut.

Lots of sweet cherry at the front followed by dark chocolate and a little nutty.

Very earthy, with very dark chocolate notes, a full body and a very silky finish.

Thickish mouth feel, smoked vanilla, honey sweetness and tons of lingering chocolate notes.

Almost a berry bomb, but not quite. Black cherry at the front, berry jam, peaches and very clean.

Tico Coffee Roasters Guatamala Marilandia

I've had a lot of coffee samples recently since I am setting up a cafe, hopefully as a multi-roaster. The owner of Tico Coffee Roasters brought some preground coffee as for a coffee tasting so these are a little different than how I normally write these.  Her recipe was 24g coffee with a 75g bloom at 205°F water for thirty seconds with an additional 300g pour in the clever and then start the pour down at 2:30 finishing roughly at three and a half minutes.  This was my favorite of the samples that I tried, it was on the medium side, but very unusual for a Guatamalan coffee. Lots of blood orange notes, some caramelized sugar and sweet red grapes at the end.

1.5 second preinfusion. I realized I haven't been playing around with preinfusion much recently or temperature for the matter, but I am trying to brew at 195.9°F to bring out a little acidity in my espressos today.  Tico Sangre De Toro Espresso: Roasted on 08/21/20 18.4g in 25 seconds 30g out Still too young, but I am getting cleaner cherry notes with lots of nut.  Chromatic Gamut Espresso: Roasted on 08/08/20 18.2 in 22 seconds 30g out I liked it better yesterday when it was sweeter, today it is thicker and more on the heavy side. Moksha Decaf Mexico Esmeralda Espresso: Roasted on 08/21/20 18.5 in 20 seconds 30g out Still too young and too dark for me. Brewing at 165.9°F certainly tastes cleaner than 200°F.
