Brandywine Colombia La Chiquita Tabi

Roasted on 07/20/20 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Ditting KR1203 grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 6.375. I really do not like this one. It has a hard to define aroma, not quite corriander, sage, cumin, carraway, but something very herby and intoxicating. There were some chocolate notes and orange, but I could not get past the aroma.

I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 6.375. 6.25-6.5 were all good. 6.375 was the cleanest tasting. Lots of chocolate notes, a syrupy mouth feel and some generic fruit notes. Better as an espresso than a pour over.

Last time I dialed this in I was at 6.25 and it had a lot of blueberry notes, sadly it doesn't this time nor is it as clean tasting. Lots of milk chocolate notes with a thick body and some fruit notes. Ok for a regular drip.

2 second preinfusion. Temple Single Origin Elvis Rafael Espresso : Roasted on 07/02/20 18.6 in 28 seconds 24-26g out A lot better than yesterday. I got rid of most of the chocolate notes and only have cherry and plum left. Tico Sangre De Toro Espresso: Roasted on 06/29/20 18.3g in 28 seconds 30g out Just nutty and cherry today. Counter Culture Slow Motion Espresso: Roasted on 6/25/20 18.7g in 25 seconds 30g out Sweet Pomegranate and chocolate. Honestly the best of the three, easiest to enjoy, but it is not memorable.

Some sweet lemon notes a lot of dark chocolate and a persimmon-like finish. If it was slightly lighter I'd say it was great, but it is just ok to goodish.
