Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Panama Elida Estate Natural Geisha

Roasted 04-01-24 Geisha  Natural  "The Lamastus family have been growing coffee in the Boquete region of Panama for over 100 years and have won the Best of Panama competition five times with their Geisha. Wilford Lamastus and his son, Wilford Jr., manage the family's three farms high up in the cloudy rainforest of the Boquete region, on the edge of the Volcan Baru National Park. Elida Estate was their first farm to be planted with Geisha back in 2005, and they have been producing some of the best Geisha in the world ever since. In 2018 and 2019, Geisha from Elida won both the washed and the natural categories in the Best of Panama competition, something never seen before! This Geisha was processed using the traditional natural method and packed with delicious fruit notes." Tropical fruit, mango, black currant and lemongrass. Proud Mary sure does love Panamian coffees so much that I struggle to keep them straight. This one was very good, definitely not worth the price, but...

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Honduras Nahun Fernandez Washed

Roasted 04/05/23 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 43. Floral, peach, raspberry and lemon peel. Rather nice, I have not been that happy with the Proud Mary Deluxe series, I suspect they would be better with a different grinder and if I improved my water quality.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Panama Finca Auromar Ironman Geisha Natural

Roasted 03/02/23 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 43. Coffee flower, honey, milky tea, cherry, & peach. I went coarser then I normally like to go and was not disappointed. I haven't been that impressed with my Proud Mary Deluxe subscription and often think that my water is at fault, my water is relatively hard, but I actually enjoyed this.  I have been to lazy to play around with my water, I often find at home filtered or purified water leaves coffee too anemic for my taste and never really cared for Third Wave Water enough to use it often.

Roasted 02/06/23 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours 41. Passion Fruit, Strawberry, Black Cherry, Floral & lemon. One of the first Proud Mary Coffees that I really enjoyed in the last year or so.

Roasted on 11/03/22 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 42. Strawberry, Mango, Apricot & Syrupy. Again, I am surprised by how much I liked this, I haven't been that impressed with Proud Mary's Deluxe series, but this isn't that bad. This may even be good as an espresso.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Indonesia Ibun Ita Sigararutang Natural Cup Of Excellence 2nd Place

Roasted on 09/01/22 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 42. Mandarin orange, peach, milk chocolate and creamy. Regardless of trying not to be biased against nonpremier coffee regions, I always have. A little apprehension about trying them, thinking that I am going to be trying an earthy or tobacco heavy coffee, but I am glad that this is nothing like that. It is a very silky body and quite easy to enjoy, I doubt I'd be willing to pay what this costs, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Hounduras Benjamin Paz Là Salsa Geisha Double Anaerobic Washed

Roasted on 06/01/22 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 44. Chocolate, jasmine, honey and lemongrass. Not a fan. It was pretty lackluster. I still have a subscription to Proud Mary Coffee even though I have had maybe two coffees from them in the last year that I enjoyed. The others have been either ok, but not worth the price or bad.  I feel like they constantly send out mediocre geishas that I am always surprised at they claim they are deluxe coffee. I tried playing around a lot with my water composition and I cannot find anything that improves them.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Panama Finca Hartmann

I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 46. Interesting, but a little strange. Plum jam, jasmine and very silky. It's been a while since I have been impressed with a coffee from Proud Mary and I have been meaning to pause my subscription and start another one with someone else. I don't know why, but with the exception of one or two coffees I've had since starting my subscription they all have been mediocre or good if they were at a much lower price point.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Panama Finca Auromar

I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 47. Not really impressed with this as a pour over, it feels like it would be perfect as an slightly orthodox espresso. Lots of chocolate notes throughout, light brief floral notes and some light apricot sweetness.

Proud Mary Roasters Costa Rica Alto De Abra Geisha

I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 45. Nectarine, jasmine, lemonade and currants. Not the biggest fan of this one, but it isn't bad. It just feels lackluster in a good, but not memorable way.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters El Salvador Bernadina El Retiro

I  brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 50. Nectarine, floral, vanilla, guava and papaya.  I think this was the best Proud Mary Coffee I've had in a while.

I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 44. Very juicy, some black tea-like astringency, followed by loads of fruit flavors like peach, mandrin oranges and guava as well as floral notes at the end.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters Panama Bambito Estate Geisha

My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 42. Jasmine, nectarine, key lime pie and it was very clean. I think I am burning out geishas.

Proud Mary Coffee Roasters El Salvador El Retiro

Roasted 08/19/21 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Niche Zero grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 47. Milk chocolate, tart lemon, pineapple, vaguely floral and a nice syrupy mouthfeel. I feel that I should have liked this coffee moreso than I did, but it felt a little lackluster. The chocolate notes were too overpowering for it to be interesting, it reminded me of a lot of espresso that mainly taste like chocolate and citrus.
