Dialing in 04/23/20

The pair of middle aged men who I saw fight over oat milk a while ago bought the last of it today. 2.5 second preinfusion for all three today. Temple Haile Gebre Espresso: Roasted on 04/16/20 19.7g in 23 seconds 24g out 201.1°F I am starting to think I just don't like this espresso. Still very dark, mostly peach notes and a chocolate finish. Stumptown Holler Mountain Espresso: Roasted on 04/11/20 19.9g in 22 seconds 30g in 201.1°F Very sweet and fruit forward with a nice mouthfeel. Equator Decaf Blend Espresso: Roasted on 03/31/20 15.1g in 13 seconds 30g out 201.1°F

I have yet to go to Safeway. Everything has a three second preinfusion. Temple Haile Gebre Espresso: Roasted on 04/16/20 19.3g in 24 seconds 24-26g out 201.1°F Still very dark more peach notes than blueberry today. Stumptown Holler Mountain Espresso: Roasted on 04/11/20 19.5g in 24 seconds 30g out 201.1°F Slightly tart, fruit forward, very creamy not as sweet as I'd like. Equator Decaf Blend Espresso: Roasted on 03/31/20 15.1g in 14 seconds 30g out 201.1°F

Roasted on 04/16/20 I brewed this in a Kalita wave using notneutral filters with a Ditting KR1203 grinder. My recipe is 28g coffee, 400g hot water not necessarily aiming for any particular time, but somewhere between four and five and half minutes. I try to do a 50g bloom in the first 45 seconds then three or four more pours. 6.75. I like this better as an espresso, I struggled with how dark it is and was stuck between 6.5 and 6.75. It feels like slightly fruity diner coffee. I tried as fine as 6.25, but it just got too acidic and murky. Some blueberry notes with a lot of burnt sugar.

Another day, another trip to Safeway for oat milk. 3 second preinfusion for all three. Temple Haile Gebre Espresso: Roasted on 04/16/20 19.1g in 24 seconds 30g out 200°F Still didn't do a ristretto, a little darker than yesterday, but flavors are crisper. Still mostly blueberry and peach. Stumptown Holler Mountain Espresso: Roasted on 04/11/20 19.6g in 20 seconds 30g out 200°F Berry forward, a little tart, might want to slow it down tomorrow or go ristretto. Very creamy and sweet nonetheless Equator Decaf Blend Espresso: Roasted on 03/31/20 15.0g in 14 seconds 30g out 200°F

Like always everything on Monday is off. Temple Haile Gebre Espresso: Roasted on 04/16/20 18.0g in 23 seconds 30g out 198.3°F Lots of Blueberry at the front with some peach notes afterward. I might try this as a ristretto tomorrow with a higher dosage. Moksha GSM Blend Espresso: Roasted on 04/11/20 18.1g in 21 seconds 26-30g out 198.3°F I hate Moksha. It's just bittersweet chocolate with an earthy finish. Equator Decaf Blend Espresso: Roasted on 03/31/20 15.0g in 14 seconds 30g out 198.3°F
